How to Select The Right SEW Motor
SEW motor belongs to a small motor power, its power range is 0.12-200KW and the torque range is 0-53000NM. How to choose the right motor for you? You mainly consider from two aspects: Power-to-Speed Ratio and Gearbox
Power-to-Speed Ratio
The motor power and speed ratio (output speed) need engineers to design according to the motion mode of our equipment. The lifting motion of the reducer is different from the horizontal transport. The lifting motion needs to calculate the power and speed by raising the line speed, sprocket rolling diameter, lifting weight, speed and other parameters. When the equipment does horizontal movement, the engineer will calculate the power and speed ratio by the horizontal motion linear speed, sprocket rolling diameter, workpiece weight, friction coefficient acceleration and other parameters. These parameters are what engineers need to consider, without these parameters, there is no way to start to design a gearmotor.
Gearmotors
Due to the space of the equipment is different, we need to choose the gearbox according to the space of the equipment, SEW Gearmotors can be divided into two main categories and five series. According to the position of the shaft, the motor can be divided into front and side shafts. The shaft of the front axle motor is a line or parallel to the motor, which takes up more space when used, their price is cheaper but their efficiency is higher. The side-shaft motor can be mounted against the assembly line, which can save space. But they're more expensive, suitable for use in some drive mixing.
The selection of SEW motors requires key consideration of power-to-speed ratio and gearbox type. The power-to-speed ratio must be precisely calculated based on the equipment's motion mode and load parameters; gearbox selection depends on installation space, categorized into front-mounted shafts with larger space occupancy but higher cost-effectiveness and compact side-mounted shaft structures. Together, these two aspects determine the motor's ultimate performance and compatibility.
